Some Australian universities have signed exchange and diploma equivalency agreements with foreign universities. The cost to participate in the exchange programs is the same amount as in the country of origin and your certificate awarded is equivalent to the country of origin.
Note: The necessary steps to pursue your studies in Australia are long and complex, and so it is best to prepare your trip well in advance.
Most Australian universities have clinics on campus designated for students. For those students with health insurance and an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) card, you have access to the clinics for free. However, note that dental fees are not covered by the OSHC and can be very expensive.
You may have the choice of a Student Village; which is accommodation located on-campus and is an excellent way of meeting fellow students, or off-campus accommodation. Renting off-campus is a very popular student choice amongst Australian students. Your university housing service will be able to offer help and guidance for whichever option you choose.
The Australian train experience may not be as convenient of that as you may have experienced in Europe or the United States. None the less, the train and bus services in Australia may offer a less expensive alternative to travel in Australia.
Australia's capital, Canberra, is served by Action buses, covering the major sights and most suburbs by bus. You can pick up a bus map and timetable from bus interchanges within the city.
With the exception of Commonwealth citizens, a visa is mandatory in order to enter Australia.
Student visa
Student visas are valid for a duration of more than 3 months. You will need to produce the following:
- Form 157Y.
- 3 Passport photos.
- Confirmation of Enrollment for Overseas Students (CEOS).
